Happy Monday!
Ziconic is on his fourth month of early training under Jeanne Mayberry, and we went to Ocala earlier this month to visit.
We arrived early on a Monday to find him excited to start the day. He has the same routine that Coz did this time last year. He’s even in his brother’s old stall.
We watched Ziconic’s morning workout and then hung out around his paddock while he enjoyed the Florida sunshine. He loves peppermints just like his mom, and we had plenty on hand.
At the end of the day, Ziconic even got to FaceTime with Zenyatta.
We didn’t leave without asking Jeanne, April, and Jackie to answer questions from this fans. Check back next week for a Mayberry Farm edition of Ask The Experts.
Ziconic has an official Facebook page! Like him here.
Enjoy!

Someone is trying to start some rumor about my sweet pea being a biter!, look at that sweet face, does it look like a face that would bite anyone?, only one biter is allowed per family and that singular honor belongs to Prince Cozmic One!!!!. Just saying. Much love to all, it is well with all at Z Nation.

maureen, we LOVED your post!

Thank you again to Team Z for sharing more of the Queen’s sons with all of us. It’s amazing to be able to see how racing’s life grows and continues. Such beautiful horses, and wonderful people around them who care about them so much. It just makes me smile.

Had to add some observations when I looked at these for the umpteenth time. It looks like Ziconic is eyeing the cat getting his carrots when Ann is talking to him. Then when he’s straining forward to get a good look at his mom, he’s probably thinking, “Looks like my mom. Why doesn’t it smell like my mom?”
He’s just too cute for words.
maureen ph[llips
I do agree Donna that he is too cute for words and thats why I am sleepless in California!!, glued to my laptop just staring at this young Prince and saying to myself, if this isn’t Miss Universe wasted on a Horse!!!, I don’t know what beauty is, am not even lying!, somebody Help!. Lol to all, it is alway well at Z Nation.

Maureen
You are not alone in your obsession with The Red Prince. I have such a “horsey” crush on him that I am beginning to wonder if I am getting “dotty” in my old age. He is so beautiful and has such spirit in his eyes!
Barbara Wood
@Sue Noel–I am so thankful that Barnaby is better. I must have missed the post about an illness. Hugs.
maureen ph[llips
Dear Sue Noel, goodmorning, I trust all is well at your neck of the woods especially since Barnaby is doing well, Praise the Lord for granting him Healing. Will continue to Pray for his complete recovery. Power up Big Boy, it is always well at Z Nation. Have an awesomely Blessed day and give Barnaby a Big wet kiss on his so soft nose.! Remain Blessed.

January 21 Cherokee Devotional
Identity does not require a label-for man is spirit, and spirit is nonpolitical and unconscious of color or class. An Indian woman is not as apt to board a luxury cruise ship or to sit at a bridge table hour after hour as she is to pitch camp beside some sparkling stream where the sunset tips the mountains with gold. People are different and fall naturally into different categories-though basically they are spiritual entities. These diverse spirits can even love each other if they can evade the labels. Labels are indicative of importance-but it is the heart that counts.
Is it wicked of me because my skin is red? Is it wrong of me to love my own? I am a Sioux because I was born where my father lived.

Dear Kathy.I haven’t had much time to visit the furbabies today went out shopping this morning! The weather isn’t good over here we have escaped the snow so far in the west but you never know! We’ll be back to the Atlantic lows next week!Sending you a hug across the pond Zoe said it’s National hugging day!Mango and wittle Katy both had a bath they look ever so smart and clean. There was an old story on Joey about Casper the cat I’m afraid he died a few years ago he used to love catching the same bus around Plymouth city centre every day.He was getting older and slower and got hit by a car was about 14 I think.I found a new dog she writes a blog missdarcy.org is a cockapoo!very cute!Have a wonderful day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly, Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
That’s good you shopped before the weather got worse. A big hug back to you! I like the idea of a National Hugging Day. Will have to go have a look at Mango and Katy. I saw that story about Casper on Joey’s page. That’s horrible that he was hit by a car. Will look for Miss Darcy. Sounds cute! Have a great day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

Move over Coz. Your kid bro is the real deal. When Ziconic runs in the Derby next year, he’ll be the best horse, AND the best-looking horse!
maureen ph[llips
No stop!, They would both be great in their own special way and we will love them both regardless of what gift destiny has bestowed on each one. They are both handsome in different ways and even though Red Prince here looks physically different from the crown Prince, it doesn’t mean that he would be better, and even if he is, we will love them both as passionately. A parent does not love one kid over the other because of their physical attributes, for we all have different shades and strokes even when we are from the same mother. They are both the Queen’s Princes so no matter what, we love them and continue to Pray that they remain Healthy and Happy as the Queen was and still is. We are all given different talents and each as important as the next. Read the Cherokee devotional posted today. It is always well at Z Nation, have a wonderfully Blessed day.
shirleeinindy
Think Coz is slower to mature that Ziconic. The Tapits are early bloomers and it seems the Zenyattas are a little later. Could be because Coz is such a big guy. Both are wonderful and well loved by all of us.
Barbara Wood
I agree, Maureen. I love them all. They are all worthy of love and care.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Maureen:
Love them all. Each one unique and beautiful. Love and Hugs, JB

Amen, to what Maureen posted. Both of these gorgeous horses are unique and beloved in their own way, for their own attributes. The Queen’s blood runs through their veins.

Ann K,
You’re entitled to your opinion, but I wouldn’t rush to judgement just yet, you might be very surprised in the long run.
CoZ is magnificent too and John S has some very wonderful comments about him, you should watch the HRTV video.

OOOps–I started a post and got interrupted by a customer and it disappeared!! If something comes up twice,I’m sorry!!
Was trying to tell about getting another good message from Katie last night when I got home. She said that Barnaby’s nose was “perfect” again and that they should go back to their paddock today. Yippee!!
She feels that he was never actually sick, but that he had a runny nose from the cold weather. I get that a lot in the winter. I wonder if I gave it to him from kissing him all the time! The whole thiong was probably a “tempest in a teapot”, as the old saying goes, but, with so many horses stabled near each other, one must use an abundance of caution. Last year, there was a scare down there with a horses that got really sick. Every other horses there was getting their temperature taken twice a day, and,of course, the sick one was isolated. Katie and Trudy, one of the great trainers there, were laughing at the time about how glad Barnaby and Traveller were to see them twice every day, even though it was to have their temps taken!! I’m glad they are so careful with all of the horses there, and glad we let them know about his nose right away,as we would have felt terrible if our horses infected others.
Can’t wait to see him on Saturday to give him even MORE higs and kisses than usual–in pure relief!! Can’t bear to think about anything bad happening to my precious boy!!!
Maureen, you are SO right about Zi!! Did you see what I had to say about him in my post on the previous page?? i think he will be talked about forever as one of the greatest horses in history!! He has definitely been tapped with the “greatness” wand!!! And,I believe that he is aware of just how special he is!!
Happy day to all–and, more kisses on the wind for Zenny,Coz and Zi–and of course some drifting heavenward for our never-to-be-forgotten Princess Z!!

If anyone wants to smile and feel good for a couple of hours (or longer) go see “Paddington”. Delightful. Zenyatta, you would love it, even though there are no horses in it. Paddington makes one smile, just like you do!

I am a little concerned that we are putting too much in expectations on Coz and the Red Prince. They will be wonderful horses in their own right, whether they succeed at racing or not. And they will be loved and cared for. Of course we all want them both to win everything!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Barb:
Agree totally. Love all Z’s babies whether they excel as racehorses or not. They are all special and I just love them. Love and Hugs, JB
Kathy
Dear Barbara,
I totally agree. Can you imagine the pressure of being the offspring of the Queen of Racing? As you say we all want them to win everything…maybe they will…or maybe not. In a perfect world, right? Let’s just enjoy them and be delighted with watching their lives from the sidelines thanks to their wonderful Team.

And all she could say was “he is stunning”… Thanks so much to Jerry and Ann and Team Z for giving us the opportunity to love Coz and Zi. A priceless gift.

I am so glad that the update on Ziconic was posted before I go to the hospital tomorrow for my knee replacement & will be without a computer for a few days. He looks really happy to be in training & is even more of a “Hunk” as he begins to develop his muscles. I also loves his color; it looks to be the same as my Pride’s was.
Coz looks great in his recent photos as well. He really looks like a race horse & his body has filled out as he has matured.
Mother Zenny looks fantastic & I bet that the other stallions will be jealous of War Front when she arrives to be bred to him!
For those of you who were praying for my Amy, her vet was discouraged when she went for her checkup on Monday. She is not using the leg she had the surgery on & the muscles on it are starting to shrink because of this. The knee joint is still stable, though & she doesn’t seem to be in pain, so that is good. Dr. Mkle put her back on the pain med for a week & I am also doing physical therapy exercises on it & Mike will check her again in a month. I would appreciate continued prayers for her.
Sue, I am glad that Barnaby is ok. I know what a relief it was to you to hear that he is fine.
Judy, I’m excited about Eeyore! Is he a standard donkey or a mini? There were mini donkeys at one of the stables that I boarded Pride at for several years. I heard that donkeys don’t like dogs & will attack them & I hope this isn’t true.
I will miss reading everyone’s postings while I am in the hospital & will catch up on them when I get home.
Thank you to everyone who posts on the blog & especially to the Mosses & everyone involve in caring for & keeping us updated on our queen & her family. Kyle, your pictures are the best! I hope that Coz will race at Saratoga this summer & that I will be able to meet the Mosses & thank them personally for all that they do for Zenny’s fans.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Donna Z.,
Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers with good wishes for a smooth knee surgery and speedy recovery!
Also, your Amy will certainly get prayers for healing and improvement in using that leg.
She will have you as an example now so maybe that will help her to learn to use the repaired leg. I think the physical therapy and pain management will have a positive effect given time.
Take care and know that we are thinking of you and Amy. Check in when you are able!
Big Hugs and Lots of Love
Kathy
Dear Donna,
Best wishes for a very successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Donna,
Prayers for you and Amy. Hope surgery went well and you will be up and going soon. Had a hip done a couple of years ago so can relate somewhat to how awful those first few days are after surgery. Stay strong!

Best wishes for a very successful outcome. The first few days are rough to be sure, but the pain meds and PT help a lot. We’ll be thinking about you and sending good thoughts and prayers.
