Zellda

Happy Birthday, Zellda!

Zellda at her birthday celebration. Her stall is the one that both of her brothers, Cozmic One and Ziconic, occupied at Mayberry Farm.

There was a birthday celebration at Mayberry Farm today! Zellda, Zenyatta’s 2017 filly, turned two, and as you’ll see in the video below, it wouldn’t be a party without a cake.

Happy birthday, Zellda!

Poor baby Improbable. He ran his race in the paddock and in the gate. He reared up in the gate and I was holding my breath. Uncle Johnny fell off Bodexpress at the break. Said he lost a stirrup and caused him to fall. Hope they are both OK and all the others too; safe and sound. Love and Hugs, JB

Oh my gosh, JB, what a start. I was wondering who first reared. Scary.

Glad Uncle Johnny was able to give us a good report after the race. BodeE looked like a bucking bronco. Wow! Scary! Kudos to the outrider nabbin’ him. Girl Power.
Congrat to all winners yesterday. Congrats to War of Will. That trophy…unbelievable.

My favorite was Catholic Boy. Good job. What a gorgeous run. He made it look so easy.
On to the Belmont. What next? Hopefully, not a triple when it comes to extra race drama.

        Dear Ann:

I saw Imp rear up in the gate; scary. I didn’t know about Bode until my sister said there was a riderless horse on the track. When I realized it was Bode and Uncle Johnny I was shocked and concerned. Apparently Bode reared up at the start too. Thank God both horses and riders are OK. Hope the Belmont is absent any drama. We’ve sure had enough. Yes, that outrider is a former jockey; she was powerful indeed and brave.

Wonderful come back race for Catholic Boy; brilliant. Love and Hugs, JB

Congratulations on your win, Mucho Gusto! You were very much the best in your race. I’ve always loved your daddy & am happy for him that you won. I’m sure that Shirlee will be thrilled, too.

Congratulations to War of Will and your connections on your win in the Preakness. Nice ride by Tyler. I’m glad that both Johnny V and Bode Express are ok as of the end of the TV coverage.

I was also rooting for Catholic Boy in the race before the Preakness and he didn’t let me down. His trainer, Jonathan Thomas wasn’t sure that he was ready yet & just wanted him to have a good race for his first one this year. Catholic Boy is another horse like Wise Dan who runs well on both turf & dirt. His next race will be on dirt & he will be going back & forth between both surfaces for the rest of the year.

I hope that everyone has a good weekend. We’re waiting for the rain to start again here. I am thankful that even though we’ve had a lot of rain that we are not getting the severe weather they’re getting in the middle of the country. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who lives there. May God keep everyone safe.

      Donna,
I watched Mucho Gusto’s race several times. So happy for him. Ordering some Mrs. Pastures horse cookies to send to Muchie for his birthday 6/15. They said he refused to share the ones I sent him for Christmas!

I liked War of Will’s win. I do think he was the best horse by far. So happy Johnny V and Bode were okay. I hope he, Omaha Beach and Maximum Security all make it to the BC Classic. What a race that would be.

Claiborne has been purchased Catholic Boy and he will be retired to that farm. His future is secured. I don’t believe I have ever seen them send one of their horses to other countries to breed and they spend the rest of their lives at Claiborne. Of course, they have no control over the stallions they don’t own but just board.
