News in from Australia is that stallion Sebring has died at the untimely age of 13.He just lay down in his paddock and passed quietly from an apparent heart attack.Much is asked of these horses in the breeding shed mares and sires alike.RIP

Dear Marshall.Maybe you mean Hot American who died at SA or Just Forget It who died there this morning and First Warrior a son of War Front who died at Gulfstream. We lost 2 over here Baywing who they think had a heart attack before the first fence although he was reported as euthanised plus Overtown Express.I am not sure what happened.A very sad day all round.May they all rest in peace.

Thanks Janet. This is such good news when we needed a silver lining.
Light after darkness indeed — what a beautiful colt! I agree with several comments that “Light after Darkness” would be a perfect name even if written all together for the right number of letters.
Good health, happiness and long life to this little one. Somewhere Battle of Midway is smiling.

Charmer John died from injuries sustained while training this morning at Santa Anita and Take a Break over here broke his hip while playing in the field with his friends. It can happen anywhere.

Much happier news Sprinter Sacre will parade at Cheltenham on March 13th and Winx goes for a world record 23rd Group one on saturday in the Chipping Norton.

I just saw a story on the NBC news that Santa Anita is being shut down to be investigated as 19 horses have died in two months. There were no names of the horses. Please tell me Ziconic wasn’t one of them. That’s all I know.

      Dear Judy,
From Canada , where I think we recognize global warming as a more serious issue, it;s time for us all to consider the changes in temperature, rain, drought, and for those of us in the North East, snow, cold and freezing rain.
An indoor training facility here in the Buffalo/ Fort Erie area has been too cold for the horses to use the swimming pool and the indoor track on many days. Ir seems to me that the recent heavy rainfall , on top of the extreme drought of the past several years, must have affected the track conditions at Santa Anita.
We may need to accept that global warming is real and not just “fake news”

My condolences from Ontario over all of the losses we have seen in the past year in the equine community. It is such sorrow to lose a wonderful animal but we know they are out of pain. My heart is heavy I also hope Ziconic was not one who lost his life. I look for him in all the sights but there just is no news. Why.
