Ziconic

Ziconic Begins His New Career

Ziconic with Linda Moss and George Bedar

Dear Fans,

I am delighted to share with you that Ziconic is moving on to his next career as an Off-The-Track-Thoroughbred! I couldn’t be happier that he now has a new home and is being welcomed into the loving arms of Linda Moss (Cousins of the Heart) and her husband, George Bedar.

Filled with enthusiasm, Linda remarks, “George and I are so incredibly honored and over the moon to have the opportunity to provide for Ziconic and to take the journey with him in the coming chapters of his life as an OTTB. This is the stuff dreams are made of, and having him join our family is beyond words.”

Ziconic will also be joining his Mom’s stablemate Milyone (also a Moss horse trained by John Shirreffs) at Templeton Farms, a Sporthorse Farm in California. We have known Linda and George since they welcomed Milyone, who has now been under their very special care for seven years.

It is our belief that horses let you know what they like to do. As Ziconic settles into his new home and new program, it will become clear what he is destined for. We are confident that Linda and George will be there to ensure that he can enjoy life and thrive.

We look forward to Ziconic becoming an Ambassador for Off-The-Track-Thoroughbreds in California and beyond, just as Cozmic One has become an OTTB Ambassador based in Kentucky.

Linda & George recently shared two things that they have already noticed about Ziconic: He is very proud of himself, and he ALWAYS knows where the camera is!

We look forward to continuing to update you on Ziconic’s transition, his new Team members, and his new happy life.

Hugs, Ann Holbrook Moss

Another example of what a brutally difficult sport thoroughbred racing is. The best bloodlines in the world do not guarantee racing talent! Thoroughbreds like Zenyatta, Winx, Black Caviar, “Rachel”, etc. are the rarest of gems! Best of luck to this fella in his new home and career!!

THANK YOU Ann for the update on Zi. He looks great, he is one stunning boy. I am sure he will excel in his new carer. I love the mind set that his new team has, that he will let them know what he likes. Good luck Zi in what ever direction you chose to go. All my Prayers and Love are with Zenny, Coz, Zi, Zelda. Thanks again Ann.

    Hello everyone & hello Ann:

Brilliant news about Ziconic or, as one fan dubbed him shortly after birth and I’ve called him this ever since, “The Little Redhead.”

I don’t know why, but Ziconic has always made me think of Northern Dancer, our Canadian King of Racing. Certainly his size, but I think also the fact that he always seemed to want to do his best.

I’m delighted that like his big brother, he’ll have his chance at a new career. And it’s wonderful that he’s staying in California — a Zenny on each coast. I wish him only the best and I believe he’ll excel in whatever area best calls up his abilities, intelligence and drive. I’m a retired educator and it always delights me to see caring owners who are always trying to move their horses forward from where they are. In education, we call this child-centred learning. But you & Team Z are clearely horse-centred advocates and I really thank you for the example you set.

Love to Zenny, her boys, Zellda and babies never forgotten.

Good that he is not at SA anymore. He deserves to have a good life off the track and get to do something in his life he can excell at. He tried very hard to be a racehorse but sometimes you have to stop and take a breather. Looking to the future with the Red Prince and hope he finds his niche in life. Go forward you beautiful handsome fella. Make your Momma proud.

Ann, so happy to hear this news about Ziconic. I absolutely love him – he’s my favorite out of the “kids”. Hoping you will come to Kentucky soon! It’s really cool today (60’s), so I’m guessing Zenyatta is having a grand time in her paddock today! Much love to all!
