Ziconic

Ziconic Begins His New Career

Ziconic with Linda Moss and George Bedar

Dear Fans,

I am delighted to share with you that Ziconic is moving on to his next career as an Off-The-Track-Thoroughbred! I couldn’t be happier that he now has a new home and is being welcomed into the loving arms of Linda Moss (Cousins of the Heart) and her husband, George Bedar.

Filled with enthusiasm, Linda remarks, “George and I are so incredibly honored and over the moon to have the opportunity to provide for Ziconic and to take the journey with him in the coming chapters of his life as an OTTB. This is the stuff dreams are made of, and having him join our family is beyond words.”

Ziconic will also be joining his Mom’s stablemate Milyone (also a Moss horse trained by John Shirreffs) at Templeton Farms, a Sporthorse Farm in California. We have known Linda and George since they welcomed Milyone, who has now been under their very special care for seven years.

It is our belief that horses let you know what they like to do. As Ziconic settles into his new home and new program, it will become clear what he is destined for. We are confident that Linda and George will be there to ensure that he can enjoy life and thrive.

We look forward to Ziconic becoming an Ambassador for Off-The-Track-Thoroughbreds in California and beyond, just as Cozmic One has become an OTTB Ambassador based in Kentucky.

Linda & George recently shared two things that they have already noticed about Ziconic: He is very proud of himself, and he ALWAYS knows where the camera is!

We look forward to continuing to update you on Ziconic’s transition, his new Team members, and his new happy life.

Hugs, Ann Holbrook Moss

Ziconic in his stall, May 2019.

I scrolled to a few other photos here and found Kizuna whose sire was Deep Impact and who is grandson to Sunday Silence. Stunningly magnificent is inadequate to describe this ebony vision. His daughter (Luce Della Vita) has won her debut. Don’t know what his little girl looks like, but Papa takes your breath away! Take a look, he is so worth your gaze.

I’m so glad to hear about Ziconic at last!

He has dropped out of sight for over 2 years now and I’m glad he has a new home. I hope they give him a useful role to play as horses need to work and have a purpose. He would make a great horse to either use as a rehab/therapy horse or a ” track pony”. I would hate to see him just trotted out once in a while wearing a blanket and a halter just to be seen as an “ambassador” for retired thoroughbreds not matter how important that cause may seem.

It is unfortunate that him and his brother Cosmic One were not mean’t to be great race horses despite their stellar pedigrees. But thoroughbreds are very intelligent and adaptable and can be retrained to do all kinds of things. Good luck Ziconic!!

I hope his new owners find him a useful and fulfilling role to do. Horses need purpose and a “job” to do.

Hope you are doing well and having a bit of spring and summer where you live. Here in Indiana it just keeps raining. I now have a backyard pool! Too late for the farmers to get their crops planted.

Anybody who did not think that Anne and Jerry would not do the right thing for this horse does not understand horse people or horses. They did it for Coz why would they do any less for Ziconic. They are still are horse people and good ones. These two boys were not suitable for racing so Anne and Jerry gave them the chance to find something they could do well. Coz is doing great. Why would they not give Ziconic the chance to be happy as well. Divorce or not any true horse person puts the horses well being first. Glad this handsome boy gets a chance to be happy.

I understand but they are not obligated to give constant updates. Anne truly loves her horses. Zinconic gets to be happy. Coz is happy with Isabella. Its great that they did not make either a low level breeding stallion or teaser stallion for other race horses. Plenty of turnout, job they like with fair treatment leads to happy horses and a good life.

      Dear Sheena,

I am enjoying Royal Ascot again this year; although, I hope the weather will improve. It was too bad the soft ground kept Sea of Class out of the race today, and the rainy soft conditions caused the Queen’s horse, Seniority, to be scratched, also. I would love to see one of Her Majesty’s entries win.
Frankie is very entertaining as always! The Queen Anne Stakes winner, Lord Glitters, is a very handsome grey — Congrats to him, to all other winners and to all competitors. Good luck and safe racing to all!

      Thanks for posting this, Sheena!
Queen Z still has it — poetry in motion, yes indeed.

I no longer have access to TVG, and I miss it; thanks to Todd Shrupp, too.

      Hugs and Love
