Team Z

  1. Dear Kathy.Hope you have recovered from your pilates session! No time for furbabies today. Fabulous racing at Ascot and Gleneagles is running woo-hoo!!!!Just seen him in the parade ring.We have waited for this clash with Solow since the summer.Muhaarar is the sprint champion he’s a son of Oasis Dream aka Brad Pitt, doubtful he will come out to Keeneland and will retire now to stud.Simple Verse won the fillies and mares and no stewards inquiry this time. She will be kept in training for next year.Race on at 2.30pm.AP McCoy is there.Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO.Great devotional!

    1. Dear Sheena,

Enjoy all the races today!May all your favorites win! Hugs, Kathy XOXO

  2. Don’t think anyone posted this earlier. Pennmarydel, Barbaro’s last full brother, bled badly during his race at Keeneland. He is back home in Maryland and resting. He had Lasix but did not control the bleed. Nothing else except they say other than that he is happy and healthy.

    1. Dear Shirlee:

Sorry to hear that. Hope Penn has no further issues from the bleeding. Love and Hugs, JB

  3. Solow wins!!!His 9th win in a row.I think Gleneagles was 4th.He is a spring /summer horse I’m afraid.Solow is a tough gelding started his season on March 3rd and travelled the world plus we get to see him next year!Sheena

    1. Dear Sheena,
Poor Gleneagles, 6th, made a good run but flattened out. Adian should have brought him here for a prep race as our ground is firmer. Glad Solow won, he is a very nice horse. May be coming to London next year in April and a visit to see you in Wales. What is the best way to get from London to your town? Would also love to see some jumps racing, too. A friend has a family home in London, how amazing to stay in that city for free.
      Love and hugs

      1. Dear Tizgood:

How exciting. Hope you and Sheena get to meet. Will look forward to hearing all about your trip. Love and Hugs, JB

    2. Solow looked amazing! Wonder if Gleneagles will be coming across the pond? One of the TV guys blamed all of the times he was taken someplace but didn’t get to run.
I couldn’t follow what it was that Becky had done without Hovis that had him so riled up?

      1. Dear Sandy:

Hovis was upset because Becky went faux fox hunting (chasing a man in a red sweater) and didn’t take him with her. Maybe next time. Love and Hugs, JB

    3. Dear Sheena and Tizgood:

Congrats to the warrior, Solow. Hope Glen is OK. Love and Hugs, JB

      1. Dear Judy,
        Solow was amazing!!!
        Love and hugs

  4. Fascinating Rock wins the Champion Stakes for Dermot Weld.Jack Hobbs the favourite was 3rd got a bad draw.Sheena.

  5. Dear Max:

Just read this article about Muhaarar, a son of Oasis Dream/Brad Pitt, and thought of you. Love and Hugs, JB

  6. Dear Kathy:

Left a reply post on Page 4 to your October 17th Devotional. Love and Hugs, JB

    1. Dear Judy,

I saw your reply post. I wrote back to you.

      Hugs, Kathy

  7. Dear Tizgood. How exciting for you coming to the UK!!You’d come on the M4 motorway to Wales.I am not sure if Gleneagles will come out to the US.The ground was too dead for him and .of course,he hasn’t raced since june.Solow is a fabulous gelding and we can get to see him again next year.Cheltenham next week!!Hugs Sheena

    1. Dear Sheena,
My friend has been coming to London since he was a little boy and his father now lives
In the family home. So hope to take at least two weeks and could not come without
coming to Wales, the most beautiful country in the UK. Is it only a few hours, like 4 hours?
Everything is so very close, maybe can also go to see Monty and Glesni. Will Cheltenham
be going on in April. Oh yes, Judy will tell you everything about lovely Wales and Sheena and of course posh London.

Bens Cat comes in second in the Sprint; all that extra weight- 8 lbs. Great stretch battle.
Sorry to hear about Penn, hope he recovers and goes on to race again. Not sure what
They will do with Gleneagles hard to have such a good horse that can only run on firm ground. So excited about Cheltenham, when is Baltazar King racing again what a tough
Horse, getting back in shape to do battle again.
      Love and hugs

  8. Dear Carol:

Just noted the 8th race at Keeneland today was won by I’m Already Sexy by Ready’s Image; same Sire as Rivers. She earned close to the Million mark with this win. Rivers is close with almost 600K earnings. Both beautiful and very talented. Congrats IAS. Love and Hugs, JB

  9. Dear Sandy, Cappers and Z Fans:

Whew, a 17 to 1 winner, Sarah Sis, in the Raven Run at Keeneland. Congrats to anyone who picked that one. Great handicapping. I think she is very talented and was overlooked at those odds. I went with No. 1, Paid Up Subscriber (10 to 1). She finished out of the money. Appears all got through OK; most importantly. Love and Hugs, JB

  10. Stellar Wind has been training well for the breeders cup distaff.
She is a very talented 3 year old.

  11. Happy Saturday from Our Handsome Chestnut Prince!

    1. Zi is so handsome!!!

    2. Dear Deb:

Thank you. He just gets more and more gorgeous. Love and Hugs, JB

    3. Dear Deb,
Ziconic is so handsome – what a wonderful photo. Thanks so much for posting it. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday. with love, Elizabeth.

    4. Deb E,
Thanks for the photo. He is just more handsome each day.

Also, the picture of Zenny in the 2009 Ladies Secret is astounding. Look at those muscles and look at the shine on that coat. Just how a champion horse should look.

    5. Deb E.,
WOW! Ziconic is even more “drop-dead gorgeous”, if that is at all possible, than before!
He just keeps getting handsomer with each day.
      Thanks bunches for this link.
      Hugs and Love

  12. Mango is the sweetest, most courageous little dog. She has a Mission and is
asking for your votes. If you have time, please cast your vote for Mango. Thank you.

    1. Dear Mary Margaret.I have been voting regularly for Mango. She is the sweetest little dog.I love her conversations with her mum and when she telephones God on her ibone. She deserves to win! Thanks for posting this link.Hugs Sheena. The Dyfi calendar will be for sale soon about early November.

  13. On this day(18th)in 1995 Red rum died at around 8am in his stable. He was euthanised due to the infirmities of old age.He had celebrated his 30th birthday the previous May.Unlike other steeplechasers his career began just before his 2nd birthday. His first race was at Aintree where all those years later he would find such fame and where he was laid to rest near the winning post,a place he called home..Bred and sold cheaply he had about 5 different trainers, nearly 2 dozen jockeys he survived severe punishment in many of his early races but his spirit was strong. He survived the year of the cough, one of the worst diseases of the hoof.In 1972 he was bought by ‘Ginger’ McCain on behalf of Noel le Mare and his new home was a stable behind an used car lot in an ordinary street in Southport.Red and’Ginger became National heroes in the 1970’s The only horse to win the famous race 3 times and in 1974 he went on to win the Scottish Grand National just 3 weeks after the big one.Ginger often said he survived in spite of people. He will forever be remembered.RIP always Rummy.Hugs Sheena.
And the dust returns to the ground it came from and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

    1. Dear Sheena, Thanks for reminding us of Red Rum. He was a wonderful specimen. There is a picture of him on Wikipedia and all his accomplishments. RIP!!!
Anxious for the Dyfi calendar. Yes, Mango is quite the conversationalist. LOL especially when her brudder Jade is bothering her and when Mango and Abby got sent to bed early after fighting over chewies and Abby photo bombed Mango with the evil eye. Wittle Kate is staying with her mum, so Mango is hunting for a new wittle sissy, God and Katy Bug will send Mango a new sissy when they find one that needs all the love they can give her.
I was watching Ascot races today and saw a horse go down. I can’t even which race. I never heard the outcome. I don’t even remember if it was a filly or colt. Take good care. Hugs, Mary Margaret

    2. Dear Sheena,
What a wonderful horse. Have watched some of his video’s.
Can hardly wait for Baldazar King to return, what a very tough
Horse. He has no issue with the injury and is ready to return,
Your jumps horses and jockies are amazing !!!
Awaiting the AP McCoy movie and his new book.
      Love and hugs

    3. Rest In Peace Noble Champ. Love and Hugs, JB

  14. Dear Mary Margaret.Katybug will send a little sissy for Mango soon I think.Oh,Abby’s always getting into trouble.I think all the horses were alright at Ascot I haven’t heard any bad news.It was a great day there and Her Majesty was in attendance to present the trophies for the QEII.We adore grey horses in the UK and lovely to see Goldikova’s colours winning again.God bless.Hugs Sheena.

  15. Dear Judy. There was a lot of discussions on racing FB’s about Gleneagles hooves and why on earth couldn’t Coolmore afford a capable CNSM.William fox-in-a-hole has had a head injury while competing during a XC in France. He is in a stable condition.Prayers for him.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

    1. Dear Sheena:

Wow, that’s a good question. Sorry about William fox-in-a-hole; healing prayers. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties

  16. Dear Beautiful Mama Z, COZ, ZI and Montey:

Goodnight. Love You. Happy Dreams. Sweet Baby Dreams Z. Hugs, JB

Z Princess, Dubai, will always love you.

  17. Dear Z Fans:

Found this wonderful video of Big Red. Think you’ll enjoy it.

The more I see how ZI is filling out, the more he reminds me of Secretariat. ZI even plays like Big Red with his groom. Big Red used to steal his groom’s brushes and ZI plays with the towel. Love and Hugs, JB

    1. Dear Judy,

Oh, thank you for this! Secretariat was the greatest…truly the horse that God made.

You’re right, Zi is very reminiscent of Big Red.

      Love and hugs, Kathy

      1. Dear Kathy:

You’re so welcome. How thrilling would it be if ZI gets to go in the KD. Love and Hugs, JB

    2. Dear Judy, Love this video – if you have ‘Secretariat” the DVD (movie), this clip is also at the end of the movie (at least on the DVD’s we have). Have watched this so many times – it never gets old! I’m hoping they’ll make a movie of Zenny one of these days. If they do, we’ll have to all start guessing who will portray whom – what fun. God’s blessings to you – we’re having wonderful Autumn days here – hope it is for you and everyone. with love, Elizabeth

      1. Dear Elizabeth:

I have seen this video before too. I’m hoping the same; what a great movie Z’s story would make. Love and Hugs, JB

    3. Judy,
Thank you for posting the video of Big Red. Brings back memories of all the times we visited him at Claiborne. He was a ham and knew when fans had come to see him. Loved to scare people by running very fast down the hill in his paddock and turning or stopping at the last minute!

      1. Dear Shirlee:

You’re so welcome. He truly was SPECIAL. How great it is that you got to visit him. Love and Hugs, JB

      2. Thanks, JB.
Bet your heart was racing, Shirlee.
What a Champ! This made me cry happy tears.

        1. Ann,
He scared the “you know what” out of you when he came thundering down that hill. So sad that the dreaded laminitis got him so young.

        2. Dear Ann:

You’re so welcome. Love and Hugs, JB

    4. Dear Judy,
I have no words, beautiful link.
      Thank you.
      Big hugs, Ingrid.

      1. Dear Ingrid:

You’re so welcome. I think he left a lot of people speechless and in awe. Love and Hugs, JB

The plain and simple doorstep has tremendous value. At any time of day or night it offers the finest view, the tranquil quiet of the autumn woods and the flickering pattern of dancing leaves.
Sit here for a few moments and leaves drift down, a monarch butterfly feeds on a pot of petunias and wispy clouds show through holes in the trees’ canopy. A few industrious ants are still at work around the doorstep and watching them slows the heart beat and paces the spirit.
If it were not for this doorstep, much would slip by without notice. Peace would escape us, and time would be used in ways that took all and gave nothing.

I have learned a lot from trees; sometimes about the weather, sometimes about animals, sometimes about the Great Spirit.

  19. Dear Sheena,

All the furbabies I’ve visited are doing well. Fibbs may have found the best donut EVER on his night run. Have a blessed Sabbath. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

  20. Dear Kathy.A Blessed Sabbath to you.I finally got around to some of the furbabies after Ascot, the rugby and “Strictly come Dancing”!!Mr fibbs went on an abventure and found the best doughnuts eber.Poor Zoe’s teams didn’t do well yesterday and do you remember the marmalade cat Tyrone He died yesterday. He had 2 wonderful years with Maria and Beth. They were devoted to him and before he left he had to pick the right pair of Angel wings.Hope Holly is keeping well.I wish I could stand on my old doorstep again, spent many a moment there lost in thought.Have a wonderful day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XOXO

  21. Nice ride by Ryan Moore on Curvy in EP Taylor Stakes her first grade one win for Coolmore; kept her mid pack, almost did not get out clearly with the number 5 tiring;
She overtook Rosalind easily, very beautiful 3 year old by Galileo.

  22. Dear Sheena:

Caught the very end. What a beauty. Congrats!

    2. Dear Judy,
      She was great.
Thank you, one more great link.
      Love and hugs. Ingrid.

      1. Dear Ann and Ingrid:

Bernie’s doing great with his babies this year. Betting COZ will add to his success too. Love and Hugs, JB

  25. Go Danish D, Go!
Did anyone happen to see Toews On Ice, a 2yr old, race today at SA. Wow! Hoping he can stay sound and keep showing us his beautiful racing!
    Brrrrrr, chilly settin’ in.
    Love to all!

    1. Dear Ann:

Just watched Toews On Ice’s replay. Wow, is right. What a big, beautiful boy he is. Very impressive win by this son of Archarcharch. Safe and sound always. Love and Hugs, JB

  26. Dear Tizgood.I hadn’t heard about Ryan’s win.A heartbreaking loss for Scptland in the Rugby World cup penalty by the Aussies and they are through to the semis!I watched Seabiscuit earlier and cried again!!!Also been watching Man ‘O’ War’s famous son Battleship winning the 1938 Grand National such a tiny horse and the fences were huge back in the those days.Muhaarar’s retirement has been confirmed Charlie Hills had hoped the Sheikh would change his mind but he will go to stud now.Hugs Sheena

    1. Dear Sheena,
Seabiscuit was my favorite book. I am going to rewatch the video. So loved
That little crippled horse that became a champion in a time we needed a
Champion in the US. Ryan also won the big race at Woodbine as well mile
And a half on a horse trained by Sir Micheal Stout funny a horse bred in Kentucky
By Lemon Drop Kid. Ryan is back his usual great riding. So looking forward to
Him and Frankie coming to ride GH in Breeders Cup. Will have to look up the video
On Battleship; so amazing those little horses have such big hearts especially a son of Man o War. Sorry to hear about Muhaarar’s retirement. Looking forward to Baltazar Kings
Return, what a really tough horse !!!!
      Love and hugs

      1. The horse was Cannock Chase in the Canadian International; great ride by Ryan Moore. Very interesting they bought this horse a KY bred at Newmarket. Did not realize Lemon Drop Kid’s run well on the turf.

  27. Dear Judy.I’ll keep you posted if there’s any news about Glen..William Fox-in-a-hole remains unchanged. He is under sedation. The Family are grateful for all the messages and prayers.I thoroughly enjoyed the video of Secretariat.Oh,gosh that Belmont run was out of this world!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

    1. Dear Sheena:

Will keep William Fox in my prayers. Oh, yes, Big Red’s Belmont will never be equaled. Love and Hugs, JB

    2. Dear Sheena,
So sorry to hear about William Fox Pitt. It is bound to happen to an event we
Sometime but it still very tragic. Adian is such a character, I think he was just
Trying to get a race into him before coming to the BC. Gleneagles should like
The dirt it is very fast and firm, it will just be the kick back in a large field and
Hope he gets an outside draw. Ryan will need to keep the dirt out of his face, but
Adian will have some horses run in front of him at Ballydoyle so he does get dirt
In his face. However, a huge group of horses running in front with kick back will be too
Much for him, so he will not be able to run with cover like he is used to running in a turf
Race. I am not sure if he always runs with cover any way, would have to look at his previous wins. He may be very competitive as he likes firm ground to win some money
In this race like DOW would be awesome and would enhance his stud value to be able to run on dirt. The BCC with DOW coming in third between the two American horses was so exciting. I love DOW he is so versatile and talented. I hope Gleneagles does well. Beholder is going to be the challenge, but Gleneagles has a nice turn of foot on firm ground. Just my thoughts.
      Love and hugs

  28. Dear Judy.I heard Gleneagles is coming over for the Breeders Cup.Aidan regretted running him on the dead ground yesterday. They have dirt at Ballydoyle for him to train but I am not keen on the idea.Love and hugs Sheena.

    1. Dear Sheena:

I don’t think it’s the best for him either. Poor baby. Love and Hugs, JB

  29. October 19 Cherokee Devotional

It may be that we stay in difficulty too long because of the habitual comfort of a familiar place. The ache for the old and familiar are parts of the spirit of hindrance that keeps us trying to overcome things without too much success.
A continual suggestion says that things are never going to be any different-that we can go no further and life can be no different. But it can! It can be different and it will as soon as we reject feelings of being frozen in space. Such feelings are signs that good change is in the offing and all we have to do is to walk and talk the part-and to show gratitude that the Great Spirit is ever with us.

Men must be morn and reborn to belong.
    Chief Luther Standing Bear

  30. Hopefully this link comes up.This is Bear witness a son of Lady’s Secret and grandson of the Secretariat. He was by Skip Away and this is how he was found.Sheena

    1. Dear Sheena,

      This is beyond shocking!
