Happy Wednesday Everyone!
Throughout the visits with MY TEAM during the last few weeks, I enjoyed several opportunities to have very, very intimate conversations with MY PAL, Dottie! As you know, she and I speak quite often and constantly work together on several projects. At this particular moment, we are reviewing some exciting plans of things WE anticipate doing in the future. I hope all of these ideas materialize…as they will be SO MUCH FUN!
I must say….I loved the comments many of you made yesterday in the Diary Responses as to what my NEW CAREER choices could be! Several of you are right on target! YOU know ME very well! YOU GET ME! YOU truly know what would be the best way for ME, at this point in my life, to successfully apply my skills and talent towards MY 2nd CAREER! I loved reading ALL of your comments and thoughts on this topic!
Here are some of the options YOU, my dear friends, suggested:
Artist, Spokesmare, Dancing Queen, Entertain Visitors, Model, Actor, Ambassadress for our Sport, being a MOM, tester for Guinness, teacher to both horses and human, inspirational speaker, and philanthropist!
You are ALL TOO CUTE….for thinking about ME in such a fabulous light!
Hooves Crossed!
We will know more tomorrow. I promise!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (Especially my 91,115 Facebook Friends….WOW!)

@Abigail and son: I am just so sad to hear of Jericho’s passing. My deepest condolences. He was a great dog and you were his angel. Now the roles have been reversed and he is your angel now.

@Patricia: Most of us hope that Zenyatta does NOT plop out foals year after year after year until she is not able. I think the Mosses are more enlightened than that and value her for far more than just being another assembly line broodmare. Z’s foals will never be unwanted, but what about 3 or 4 generations hence? Will all her decendants have forever loving owners, or will they be part of the unwanted horse and over-population problem? With regards to the “husband” issue – we are just enjoying the banter and day dreaming. We know she may have several different mates, and have even blogged about our favorites.
BTW – Salukis and Arabs rock!

Zenny, I made this comment on YouTube when someone said they didn’t think you were that great of a horse. I hope it makes you smile; that will be a step towards repaying the debt I owe you for the joy you brought me during your career, and even now. You fill me with hope and calm when my PTSD and depression gets the better of me. When I want to kill myself because of the bullying I went through, I think of you. You are an angel without wings, Zenyatta, and I love you so much. All horses are angels, really, but you’re something special. Horses leave hoofprints on your heart.
Anyway, I will post the comment I made now. I hope you are happy and healthy, Queen Zenyatta.
“A good racehorse isn’t just Beyer figures, Grade One wins and (for fillies/mares) beating males several times a year. A good horse captures your heart. A good horse takes your breath away, on and off the track. A good horse is an ambassador to the sport who will be remembered decades later. A good horse brings tears to your eyes. A good horse ends up being EVERYONE’s horse, not just the owner’s. The best horse is the one people call a gift from above. That is Zenyatta- the greatest horse ever.”

Dawn Conrad: I was lucky enough to see Big Brown race twice at Gulfstream; he was impressive and was a calm, beautiful horse. He was in the outermost lane (where no one wins from) in the Florida Derby and just blew away the field. And he did it effortlessly. One of his fans I met traveled to see every race he partook in. Unfortunately, I never saw Seattle Slew in person.
I’m very lucky in that I live 15 minutes away from both Gulfstream Park and Calder Racetrack in South Florida.
The last incredible race that I saw at Calder was the Princess Rooney. Mike Smith was aboard Sassy Image and she was 20 lengths back in a 6 furlong race; she didn’t like the track. All of a sudden she comes surging around the turn and wins the race by a nose. It was a Zenyatta moment. Mike Smith and owner, Jerry Romans, and trainer, Dale Romans,
were thrilled after that race. She then went onto the Ballerina at Saratoga and injured her hoof (grabbed a quarter) on the gate and refused to run (smart girl). She will be in the Breeders Cup Sprint for fillies/mares division. She won three graded stakes races in a row after she had throat surgery.
I’ll bet Mike Smith thought he would never have another Zenyatta ride since the queen retired.

Good morning Zenny, today is the big announcement day, I can hardly wait to find out what your new career is going to be but I know that you will be a huge success no matter what you do. Just remember that it’s hard to improve upon perfection.
@ Sally B – I have had the same problem and my Dr. prescribed Tecta, pharmaceutical name is pantoprazole magnesium. It completely blocks the production of stomach acid, it worked wonders and my problems went away. Enjoy your trip to KY and please give Curlin, AP and my Canadian boy Langfuhr a kiss from me.

@Kathy in Studio City–your Zenyatta is beautiful!
@Marshall (girl’s name)– thanks! I wish we could share your rain.
@Sally B– a jillion thanks! I got the sweetest reply back from Marlene Dodge at Valley View. She was so appreciatiive of the Z-fans. I told her that with PayPal, one can’t send a note, but she was getting a lot of support from us.
@judy berube–thanks for the BL link.
Barbara Wood
@Alex–thank you for sharing your story. Beautiful thoughts echoed by many. Zenyatta’s influence, if it were to be chronicled, would have a ripple efect that stretches from coast to coast.

Dear Abigail from Montreal,
I just read your post regarding Jericho. I am so sorry. I wish that words could help, but I’m afraid only time can do that. A long, long time. Jericho was lucky. He was greatly loved & died surrounded by the people he loved & who loved him the most. I wish that all beings including us could have this peaceful an end. I don’t know why animals have such short life spans as compared to our own. One would hope that the very creatures who are the most beautiful, bring the most joy, provide the best examples, and do the most good would live the longest, but that’s not how life is. It is my belief that we only have the here & now. You loved him while he was here, and now you have your memories. My mother died several years ago, but not a day passes that I don’t think of her & smile. When something funny happns I catch myself thinking that I must share this with her. She’ll laugh. I can’t do that, but I can remember. I especially remember her hands. She never touched me that it didn’t bring me comfort. You as well have all of that. You have memories of Jericho’s eyes, his bark, his smell, the touch of his fur, his presence, and how he made you feel. Through your tears I would suggest that thinking of him even at this time makes you smile just a bit. That’s very beautiful, and beauty lives forever.

You are beautiful, Alex!

@Barbara Wood, I gave to Valley View over the weekend and paid via Pay Pal. I did received a lovely email from Marlene on
Monday. I did write her back telling her I found out about saving these poor horses thru the “Z” daily diary site. There are soooo many “good souls” on this web site!!
Leslie R.
@Alex, what a beautiful post! Thank you! Zenyatta is the greatest horse ever.
Zenny, I can’t wait for your announcement!
Love to all,
Leslie
Polly
Zenyatta, you are one sweet girl. Your greatness mixed with such whimsy IS TOO CUTE. You have generated so much love that your foal will arrive in a much better world. What a Think Tank you and Dottie make. I’m sure John has some input as well. Looking forward to hearing your new plan(s).
Allen
Zenyatta I am so glad that you got to spend quality time with your Ca. family last week.
Barbara Wood
@Alex B.–thank you for sharing that. Yes, Marlene is always thankful. She’s doing a job I could never do in a million years.
@Charlie–beautiful word of comfort for Abigail.
Elicia L. Crowell
This Picture Is Just Stunning!!! So much love and admiration shared between Dottie and Zenny!! I must say that Zenyatta has the pregnancy “Glow” beaming off her beautiful coat!!Best of luck and many blessings for your team!! Love You Zenny!!

@Marty R-You are in the club. @Susan in TN-You are now the president of the club since you are the most qualified. Maybe, for you, I should leave out the word “might.” @Sharon Call-You are in. @Abigail from Montreal-Jericho, meet your new friend, my old hound Corrie. @Judy Berube-Glad you (and Russ) enjoyed the joke. @Deborah Richman and Brenda S-Thank you. @Lil in Ky-You are already in. @Kathy in Studio City-Any dog lover is a friend of mine. Thanks for the link. @Vicki B-You are already in. No need to embellish your resume. I always enjoy a response to one of the redneck jokes. @Diana S-Your post to Abigail in Montreal was well said. I think it is about time to list the official members of the redneck club so that any I may have missed can have their name added. If you are on the list already, no action us necessary. This is a club you cannot resign from. @Kari Bussell and Susan in TN-You might be a redneck if you roll your hair with soup cans and wash it once a year. You might be a redneck if the ASPCA raids your kitchen. You might be a redneck if your belt buckle doubles as a serving tray. You might be a redneck if you consider your license plate to be personalized because your dad made it in prison Will post a joke later.
Jeanie
Alex,
I’m glad you conveyed Marlene’s sentiments. She has told me several times how wonderful you all are and I’ve also tried to let you ALL know that as well. Marlene told me last night that when it gets down to the last few days of a rescue, she can’t sleep at night, worrying if enough funds will come in to rescue all the horses. I know she appreciates each person who helps.
Your humble J

Dear Zenyatta,
You are truly an inspiration and a source of strength for so many! Someday, maybe YOUR John will have his own photography exhibit and we’ll be able to see even more of his wonderful pictures. Thanks to your Kentucky and California families for always sharing. Love and hugs, Suzanne G
@Susan in TN and Sharon Call–SUCH GOOD NEWS! Congratulations to both of you and Chester and Chopper too.
@Abigail in Montreal–you and your son were with Jericho when it counted most. For sure, he’ll be there at the Rainbow Bridge.
@Alex–beautiully said.
@All–cannot find any other info but Indian Tale is entered at Laurel Park,
Race: 8 – 4:37 PM
Pam Zacek,
I think Mommy will be your special thing, and you can teach her or him to dance just like you do, we will all be watching, and Heck everyone, get up and dance when Baby Zen is born, we will all be, excited, and happy, for you just being a Mom, and showing, him or her, all your great traits.

@Patricia (Arabians and Salukis) — Beautifully worded posts. A friend (zookeeper of giant pandas) owns Arabians and Salukis. Perhaps you have met in dressage or show rings.

Zenyatta, do you know why I admire you so much. Well, I’ll tell you. It’s because even though you are a champion, you have a great sense of humor and are not afraid to clown around some times. We adore you for this quality and love you sooooo much.
J Smith
Suzanne G – I emailed Laurel Park yesterday saying I was concerned about Indian Tale running so often & could they pls make sure the vet gives her a through exam, not just a once over, before letting her run. I’m sure if a lot of people emailed, they’d take more notice! Contact info easy to find on their website. Did not read other posts on Indian Tale, so u probably know, she ran last weekend at Belmont. Some horses like to run a lot, look at Rapid Redux, but Indian Tale’s race entries seem excessive to say the least.
Shema
Dear Z Z! I loved seeing your summary list of all your other career directions. Some of them you’re already doing, just by being your natural gorgeous self. Gosh, I’ve never felt this way about a horse. You are really the best …. I mean, really! … who else has this broad appeal ! Love seeing you with Dottie in this photo. Dottie, you’re one lucky lady!!
Barbara Wood
@J Smith–thanks for keeping watch over Indian Tale.
@Terry Crow–absolutely love the redneck jokes for TWO reasons:1) they are funny and 2) they are short enough that I don’t forget the punch line!
@Diana S–did I hear you volunteering to make official redneck badges?? Gotcha back! We’ll look like those people who go to the Olympics with all their pins, etc.!
JAG from California :-)
Okay! Now I can be accused of stalking!! I keep checking every 5 mins to see if there’s a new post! lol

@JAG from California. I’m adding myself to the stalking list. I’m sure it’s quite long now.
